Who is a Mature Student?

A mature student at Spark Asher Academy is anyone 18 years of age or older on or after January 1st of the current school year who is enrolled to earn their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

Study in Canada as International Student

You don’t need a study permit to take online courses at Spark Asher Academy. However, if you plan to come to Canada to study in person, you might require a specific visa or permit. Spark Asher Academy doesn’t provide assistance with these; contact Citizenship and Immigration Canada for more information.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)

Spark Asher Academy is authorized to grant equivalent credits for various situations, including:

  • Students previously enrolled in high school outside Canada (or other provinces).
  • Students who received homeschooling.
  • Adults who left high school and continued learning in other ways.

An equivalency credit is a high school credit awarded when someone meets course learning expectations through means other than traditional classroom learning.

Continuing Education

Spark Asher Academy offers a flexible and convenient online learning experience for continuing education:

Quebec Students

Quebec students can earn their Grade 12 diploma at Spark Asher Academy by meeting the following requirements:

  • Academic transcript approval through our Guidance Office.
  • Completion of Grade 11 or equivalent (Secondary V for Quebec students).
  • Completion of 7 pre-university courses with Spark Asher Academy (Grade 12 U/M courses).
  • 40 hours of community involvement.
  • Ontario Literacy Course (OLC4O) or Exam (OSSLT).
