Course Overview
HHG4M offers a multidisciplinary approach to the study of human development throughout the life cycle. In this course, students will examine how early brain and childhood development are linked to lifelong learning, health, and well-being. They will develop child-care and human-relationship skills through lessons and activities with practical applications.

UNIT ONE
Developmental Theories, and Risk and Resilience

This unit offers an approach to the study of developmental theories. Students will learn about a range of theoretical perspectives on human development. They will examine threats to healthy development as well as protective factors that promote resilience.

UNIT TWO
Understanding Physical Development

This unit offers an approach to the study of physical development from the prenatal period through old age as well as the brain physiology. Students will also learn what factors affect the human development and the brain plasticity.

UNIT THREE
Cognitive Development, Language Development, And Intelligence

This unit offers an approach to the study of cognitive development, language acquisition and intelligence from the prenatal period through old age and will develop their research and inquiry skills by investigating issues related to human development. Students will also learn what factors affect cognition.

UNIT FOUR
Social-Emotional Development And Personality

This unit offers an approach to the study of social-emotional development from the prenatal period through old age and will develop their research and inquiry skills by investigating issues related to human development. Students will also learn how we shape our identities and personalities.
