Course Overview
This course enables students to enhance their musical literacy through the creation, appreciation, analysis, and performance of music. Students will perform traditional, commercial, and art music, and will respond with insight to live and recorded performances. Students will enhance their understanding of the function of music in society and the impact of music on themselves and various communities and cultures. Students will analyse how to apply skills developed in music to their life and careers.

UNIT ONE
Creating & Performing

Throughout this unit, students will be given the sense and knowledge of understanding and performing music effectively. Students will gain adequate knowledge of how music is created and all the principles of music that must be known and how to apply them correctly in order to produce qualitative music.

UNIT TWO
Reflecting, Responding & Analysing

This unit will cover topics that will gear up students or music and practically giving them a sense of music. The unit will guide the students of what can they do after secondary school as a musician. Students will consolidate on some of the topics taught in Unit 1 of this course.

UNIT THREE
Foundations

This unit will allow the students to get familiar with the practicalities relating to the field of music, getting them familiar with the careers in which they may progress, the pro & cons as well as teach them how different factors have affected music over the years.
