THE ONTARIO CURRICULUM: The Arts


Course Overview
This course focuses on the development of media arts skills through the production of art works involving traditional and emerging technologies, tools, and techniques such as new media, computer animation, and web environments. Students will explore the evolution of media arts as an extension of traditional art forms, use the creative process to produce effective media art works, and critically analyse the unique characteristics of this art form. Students will examine the role of media artists in shaping audience perceptions of identity, culture, and values.

UNIT ONE
Creating & Presenting

In this unit, students were given the knowledge of creating and presenting their art in an efficient manner along with the right techniques, elements & principles of design. This unit taught the students the right way to express their feelings or point of views through their art. Students gained a decent knowledge and got the true essence of arts.

UNIT TWO
Reflecting, Responding & Analysing

In this unit, students will be introduced to several technical concepts, topics and ideas of media and arts. Students will get the more of practical sense of media and arts and will understand how different techniques are applied in order to understand how to apply the concepts of media and arts correctly.

UNIT THREE
Foundations

Students will cover topics and concepts that lay the foundation of media arts practically. Students will be taught the right way to communicate correctly within the language and media arts in order to gain the sense of communication. Some topics will consolidate the concepts covered in the earlier units.
